The Intervale Center is a 3 mile trail system that is groomed in the winter for cross country and nordic skiing! Some of the trails along the Winooski River are ungroomed but still accessible for skiers to enjoy. They do not offer gear or rentals so you must have your own skis and gear in order to utilize these trails. Every year the Intervale Center hosts an event called “Wintervale” which is an event that includes a wildlife walk, free cross-country ski and snowshoe demos provided by local supporters, a bonfire, a chili cook-off, and more! This could be a great way to test out xc skiing before buying your own gear. The Intervale XC Skiing Facebook page provides ski condition reports all winter long.
