Outdoor Activity Based Clubs at Champlain!

Champlain Ski & Ride

Ski & Ride is an inclusive community building club focused on giving a space for students interested in skiing and snowboarding, spending time outdoors, and to meet friends and form lasting memories with other Champlain Students. Throughout the year we will be hosting community-building events like general meetings, movie premiers, and shop nights. When winter comes around, the club will transition to in-person, on-hill events, such as community ski days, learn-to-ski events, and a rail jam. Our goal is to form a community in which people can learn to ski and ride in a safe and welcoming environment!

Chicks on Sticks

Chicks On Sticks is a female-identifying and gender-non-conforming ski and ride club at Champlain College, where outdoor enthusiasts come together to celebrate skiing and embrace the beauty of nature. We are committed to fostering a sense of community both on and off the slopes, encouraging our members to try new experiences and express their love for the outdoors. In a field often dominated by men, we strive to create more opportunities for feminine presenting and gender-non-conforming skiers, empowering them to push beyond their comfort zones and make their mark. Join us as we carve our path and create a more inclusive and diverse skiing community!

Champlain Outdoors

The mission of Champlain Outdoors is to foster a community of individuals who are eager to spend time out in nature. Whether it be hiking across the rolling hills of Vermont’s Green Mountains in a sea of fall colors, paddling through the lakes, creeks, and rivers of the New York Adirondacks, or gliding across the snow on a cross-country skiing trail, we are committed to getting you out there. Our trips vary in difficulty, ranging from casual day hikes simply meant for appreciating the beauty of the woods, to strenuous treks that will be a true test of endurance. Regardless of whether you consider yourself to be a casual hiker or a rugged adventurer, there is something here for you. Formerly known as the Champlain Hiking Club.

Climb Champlain

Climb Champlain is a rock climbing club which allows students to climb at the gyms in the local area up to 3 times a week free of charge. We visit MetroRock Vermont on Wednesday mornings at 8:45 am and Sunday evenings at 6:45 pm. On Friday evenings we head to Petra Cliffs at 7:15 pm. We also provide transportation to our climbing events by utilizing the Champlain vans in the Rowell parking lot. Our goal is to create a welcoming community for students of all climbing levels to connect with other climbers and create long-lasting friendships. Come climb with us!

The Environmental Club

The Environmental Club strives to create a space for students of all majors and backgrounds to come together to care for our campus and community. We hold weekly meetings to bring people together to talk about environmental issues and what we can do in our community to better our place-based issues. We host events and bring in speakers to talk about different aspects of the environment, film showings, and community outings to share the state of Vermont with the people on campus that don’t have opportunities to get out.
