Mount Abraham sits at 4006 feet above sea level and is considered a fun yet challenging hike to complete in the Green Mountain Range of Vermont. This hike can be completed via the Long Trail which is a 4.8 mile hike to completion and takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. It begins at the Lincoln Gap and you follow the Long Trail for the entire duration of the hike, passing the Battell Shelter which is a great place to stop before summiting. Mount Abraham can also be hiked by starting on the Battell Trail and intersecting with the Long Trail to summit. This version of the hike is a bit longer, 5.3 miles, and is said to take 4 hours to complete. Since the summit of this peak is an alpine zone, it is very important to prepare with the proper hiking gear. Additionally, checking the weather and ensuring that it is safe will be very important for your hiking experience. In the winter especially, stay updated on weather reports and bring warm layers, microspikes, and snowshoes depending on conditions.
